Rock-N-Roll Sushi
Shrimp Tempura Roll
Tempura shrimp, cucumbers, and avocado, topped with eel sauce
Seating: Standard black booths not secured to the ground. Had a bar and elevated tables in the middle of the room. Lighting was dim and would probably have looked cooler in the night. In the daylight one side of the room is dark and the windows leading outside are blinding so for lunch eating it was less than ideal. The dark lighting didn't do well with all the open space, and made the whole place seem tighter than it actually was.
Decor: Posters of rock stars and guitars hanging on walls, this place gives a true rock and roll vibe. With menus literally pasted inside of record jackets and an entire half of the menu devoted to rock and roll figures (KISS roll, AC/DC roll, Elvis Roll), it has a theme that fans will like and make non-fans feel like they've stepped in on a whole new culture. Past the decor, there is limited additional rock and roll content. No dressed up waiters or a presenter stage.
Atmosphere: Felt a little dirty because of the darkness and mobility of the booths. Placement of the TV in the back of the room makes it uncomfortable to sit in the booths or the high tables because it catches the eye of the person facing it while talking and RUINS conversation. It is so distracting watching stunt airplanes zoom between pillars floating in a bay somewhere. Overstaffed(2 groups eating and 3 waiters+2 cooks), but that was at 3:45 so they can't be blamed.
Actual Food: I got a shrimp tempura roll and a California roll. The shrimp seemed minimal, but the eel sauce added a bit of flavor to the avocado and cucumber. The California roll was the California roll. Either I ordered to boring items or the food itself was boring, but the whole place was just an average restaurant. Very standard food and soy sauce condiments, nothing amazing. It tasted like shrimp tempura should, and can be described like with a "It was ok", sorta like a date with a boring guy(or gal).
Rating: The decor could've been interesting if I were into old Rock and Roll, and the darkness+TV combo was not conducive to good, meaningful conversation. Added to their average tasting Rock and Rolls of sushi, I give 5/10
